the Coghinas River reaches the sea and creates a mosaic of wetlands, reedbeds, and a coastal dune system. This area is protected within the Natura 2000 network (Special Area of Conservation) and is recognized for its outstanding biodiversity.
The river mouth is known for excellent sightings across seasons. Species often reported in the area include Kentish Plover, Black-winged Stilt, Little Tern, Little Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Common Greenshank, Zitting Cisticola, and Western Marsh Harrier.
